The Smashing Machine Is Out Now!

The Smashing Machine is out now!

On October 3rd, The Smashing Machine — a new biopic starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson — premiered nationwide to critical acclaim, generating early Oscar buzz.

The film tells the powerful story of our very own Mark Kerr, a legendary UFC and MMA fighter whose journey through triumph, addiction and redemption has inspired millions. More than a story about competition, The Smashing Machine reveals the humanity behind the athlete — a man driven not just by victory, but by the pursuit of balance, belonging and purpose.

Something you may not know about The Smashing Machine’s origins is that director Benny Safdie was not the one who wanted to bring Mark’s story to the big screen — it was Dwayne Johnson. After seeing the 2002 documentary about Mark in 2008 or 2009, Johnson had the idea to approach the story from a different angle.

When Johnson obtained the rights to the story, he brought the idea to filmmaker Safdie, who understood that there was no better choice for an actor: who else could both undergo intense physical transformation while bringing the required lived experience to the role, showing audiences the human element behind the public highs and private lows of life in the ring?

Mark’s story has blown up recently, putting him back in the limelight for stories and interviews in Sports Illustrated, Good Morning America, The Joe Rogan Experience and Multifamily Forward, just to name a few — these exciting opportunities have given him the chance to show how success isn’t only about winning, but about nourishing humanity at its core.

At Absoulute Wellness, those same values are at the heart of everything we build. Like Mark’s journey, our work is rooted in resilience, recovery and the belief that true strength comes from within. It’s not about how hard you can push — it’s about how deeply you can rebuild.
